Cooling Mask – Summer Mask

Its not just your body but also your skin needs something to cool off this summer and this homemade face mask can give your skin a cooling effect and sooth it from the damage caused by sun.

Mash peeled cucumber or use just the cucumber juice and add chilled aloe vera gel to it and apply a thick layer all over the face, you can also use yogurt in place of aloe vera gel. Store the rest of the mask in a container and refrigerate for later use.

Healthy glow – Lemon & Honey

For a healthy natural glow to your skin and to achieve a even skin tone, cut a lemon into half dip it into honey and use it in circular motion all over your skin for few minutes and then leave it on your face for about 15 mins and rinse off with warm water. Repeat this twice a week for a glowing tan free skin.
Lemon and Honey both have lighten and brightening properties that will exfoliate the skin, lighten it and give it a healthy glow.

You just need a small drop of honey, use it in your favourite moisturiser and then apply it all over your skin and massage it for few minutes so that the moisturiser gets soaked into the skin, leaving your skin soft and smooth.

Steaming for different skin types

Steam Facial at Home

* Wash your face to remove any dirt or makeup.
* Take a small bowl of hot water and place it on a flat surface, tie your hair back and place your face over it ( not too close, few inches away from the bowl) for about 5-10 mins, take a towel and cover your head as well as the bowl to help trap the steam. The steam from the water opens the pores and cleanses it.
* Follow by a light scrub and moisturiser.

Wash Cloth Steam

* For a perfect at home clean up, start by removing the makeup with a good cleanser or face wash, use a tooth brush to exfoliate the face and also your lips.
* Wash cloth steam is a simple and easy method, take some hot water in a bowl and add a few drops of lemon juice in it, dip the washcloth in the bowl, ring out the excess water and press the warm wash cloth to your face until it cools. Repeat this 2 -3 times.
* To finish off splash some cold water or run a ice cube all over your face to tighten the skin and then apply a thick moisturiser to your face and neck.

Follow these tips to steam according your skin type:
Acne: Steaming is very beneficial for acne prone skin, it opens pores and gets rid of dirt and excess oils from the skin. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to the water for extra benefits.

Dry Skin: For a dry skin steam, add few drops of lavender oil to the water and follow up with a good moisturizer when the skin is still damp to keep it soft and smooth.

Oily Skin: Steaming reduces and removes the excess oils from skin, adding few drops of lemon juice or green tea leaves to the water helps treat the oily skin related problems.

Sensitive Skin: Be careful not to over heat the skin, keep yourself at a distance while steaming and limit it to just 2 – 3 mins. Add green tea to the water or if you want you can use essential oil but limit it to a drop or two.
